Current developments and ideas for the use of numerical methods in geotechnical practice
The use of numerical methods continues to increase in geotechnical practice, whereby the calculation of serviceability issues is currently the most common. In order to anchor the design with numerical methods more firmly in geotechnical practice, this will be explicitly authorised in the amendment of EC7. The presentation will emphasise the special features of geotechnical engineering with regard to numerical simulations. Furthermore, the procedure for the design with numerical methods according to EC7 will be highlighted. Finally, an insight into current research topics in the field of geotechnical design and initial approaches to a loss-free BIM2FEM coupling will be discussed.
