Grants For Students

How are students supported?

The sponsorship association uses its financial resources to promote the development of motivated students specialising in geotechnical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt. This includes the awarding of sponsorship prizes, financial support for stays abroad and the promotion of geotechnical engineering excursions.

Every year, the support association awards a prize worth 750 euros to the graduate with the best final grade in the Geotechnics research specialisation (M.Sc.) at TU Darmstadt. This has been done annually since 1997.

In addition to the prize for the best final grade in the Geotechnical Engineering research specialisation (M.Sc.), a Bachelor's thesis is awarded annually with a certificate and a sponsorship prize worth 250 euros.

In previous years, the prizewinners were:

Deepening the intercultural and language skills of the young members of the association is very important to the association. For this reason, the association supports the endeavours of students in the Geotechnics research specialisation to visit other countries. The aim of the funding is to make it easier for students to study abroad. For this purpose, a scholarship totalling 1000 euros is made available. Half of the amount is paid out before and half after the stay. Sponsored students are encouraged to report on their stay abroad and their personal experiences at the following general assembly in order to share the knowledge they have gained.

The application for the scholarship is made by submitting a one-page letter of motivation and the completed application form (opens in new tab) to the contact person of the association at the institute, Mr Alexander Kochnev . The Executive Board decides on the funding and allocation of the scholarship.
