The Institute of Geotechnics has a fully equipped soil mechanics laboratory and a geotechnical test pit. With the mechanical workshop also attached, we are able to create individual geotechnical model tests and thus investigate soil behaviour in element tests, model tests and also in large-scale boundary value problems.

Test pit facility

The Institute of Geotechnics has a test facility for various types of geotechnical investigations. It is particularly suitable for investigating soil-pile interaction. It enables the investigation of medium to large-scale model tests and thus closes the gap between small-scale tests on the one hand and very expensive in-situ tests on the other.
