The association pursues exclusively and directly non-profit purposes for the promotion of research and teaching at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt. Further information can be found in the association's statutes (opens in new tab) .

The objectives of the association include:

• the promotion of the implementation of research results in concrete practical applications,
• conversely, the promotion of the implementation of practical applications in concretely formulated research objectives,
• supporting scientific contacts between the members of the association, scientists, research institutions and research communities,
• the organisation of the Darmstadt Geotechnics Colloquium and
• the promotion of geotechnics excursions for students.
