New Paper: “Numerical modelling of fracturing processes during cold water injection into geothermal reservoirs: Verification and qualitative validation”

2025/03/17

In collaboration with colleagues from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH Aachen), we have developed a numerical model to simulate coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical processes in geothermal reservoirs, including the reactivation of existing fractures and the fracturing of the rock matrix.

Authors: Wen Luo (TU Delft and RWTH Aachen), Joaquín Liaudat (TU Darmstadt), Josselin Ouf (TU Delft and RWTH Aachen), Anne-Catherine Dieudonné (TU Delft), Florian Amann (RWTH Aachen), and Philip J. Vardon (TU Delft).
