New paper: “Predictive abilities of constitutive models for clay under monotonic and cyclic loading: element tests and centrifuge experiments” Géotechnique

2024/06/26

The subject of this study was the predictive capability of three material models for clay in boundary value problems under monotonic and cyclic loading. For this purpose, recalculations of centrifuge tests on monopile foundations were carried out using the modified cam clay model, the hypoplastic model with intergranular strain and the AVISA model. The work was written together with Merita Tafili, Patrick Staubach and Torsten Wichtmann using the FE code numgeo.

The results show that:

  • All models achieve good agreement with the test results under monotonic loading.
  • Under cyclic loading, only the AVISA model was able to achieve satisfactory agreement with the measurements.
