The first numgeo workshop took place at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering at TU Darmstadt from 6 to 7 June 2024.

In this introductory course, the participants learnt about the possibilities and basics of modelling and calculation with the FE programme numgeo, which is being developed at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering at TU Darmstadt (TUDa), among others. In addition to simple calculation examples, methods for the simulation of soil liquefaction and special simulation strategies for highly cyclical loads on offshore foundations were discussed.

For the first time, we presented the integration of numgeo into the GiD SIMULATION preprocessor developed at TUDa, which significantly simplifies the modelling process. It was an intensive workshop with very committed participants. We were particularly pleased about the participation of Prof Ashutosh Kumar from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi. We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to the next workshop in Darmstadt!
