numgeo Webinar with the Sociedad Mexicana de Ingenieria Geotecnica

25.07.2025

On Monday evening, July 21, 2025, we had the pleasure of presenting a webinar to the Sociedad Mexicana de Ingenieria Geotecnica, A.C. (SMIG).

The event was a great success, with an incredible 125 attendees from the international geotechnical community.

The presentation provided a comprehensive overview of numgeo's capabilities and ongoing advancements. The agenda was structured as follows:

  • Introduction to numgeo: A look into the core features and functionalities of the software.
  • Current and Ongoing Developments: We highlighted exciting new projects, including automatic calibration with numgeo-ACT, large-deformation modeling with numgeo-PFEM, mixed time integration with the IMEX scheme, and Finite Discrete Element Modelling (FDEM).
  • Application Examples: We shared insights into real-world case studies where numgeo has been applied, such as modeling vibratory pile driving, deep vibratory compaction, the effects of high-cycle loading on railway embankments, the load-deformation behavior of cyclically loaded onshore wind turbines, and earthquake assessment of foundations on liquefiable soil.
  • Strength Reduction Analysis: A dedicated segment focused on slope stability, incorporating the crucial effects of groundwater flow and partial saturation.

The engagement from the participants was fantastic, leading to a valuable exchange of ideas and insightful questions. We were thrilled with the positive feedback on numgeo and our current research.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Sociedad Mexicana de Ingenieria Geotecnica, A.C. (SMIG) for this wonderful opportunity to connect with the geotechnical community in Mexico. We look forward to future collaborations and continuing to advance the field of numerical geotechnics together.
